At the end of the XI Century the surroundings of the Monastery "Santes Creus" were repopulated and this created a settlement of small agricultural centres. This was possible thanks to the permission of the Templar Order of the Celma Commander. Much later the Marques of Santes Creus became the major owner with 400 hectars; another landowner was the aristocrat D. Jaime de Mora y Aragón and the Marques of Casa Riera. The land was run by the farmers themselves who received 2/3 and passed on 1/3 to the owner.

From the year 1982 onwards when the socialist party held a Government majority negotiations started to give the farmers the opportunity of buying the land from the original owners. This was done by mediation of the Farmers Unions through the lawyer Maties Vives. This previous situation originated in quite a number of agricultural centres with families that were originally "rabassaires", farmers owned by the Land Owner.

This was not exactly the case with the Manor of Celma which had deep and vast forests with pasture lands and with land divisions based on properties that had settled there since the XII Century under the protection of the Templar Order of the Celma Commander. Some of them have survived until now and are in good condition and despite being greatly altered since the original planned rural constructions they still retain attractive and important parts. Others unfortunately have only retained their stone walls, evoking memories of medieval times.

Our *** star Hostatgeria de Celma Hotel wants to honour and recover some of these properties and this is done by naming each room after them.

It is Lluís M. Figueras Fontanals who is the author of the "El Senyoriu de Celma" (the Manor of Celma) who wrote a functional scheme on the area. (Study Institute Vallencs,1999).
