An "Alt Camp" Municipality settled in the mountain area that separates the "Penedès area from the "Camp" area between the mountain of Montagut and the Montmell mountain. From the western part it reaches the river Gaià between the villages "Pont d'Armentera and Vila-rodona and from the eastern part it comprises the higher part of "riera de Manlleu" or Marmellà, a small branch of the river Foix on its right.
The vegetable gardens, the vineyards, wheat and potatoes are the products most cultivated. The majority of the land belongs to the landowners and is directly run by them. Livestock and birds completes their economic activity.
The village stands on the left border of the river Gaià just at the limit of the Vila-rodona area; the village and the old stable of Santes Creus (127Ha.) are further upstream of the river Gaià where the Monastery was constructed and given its name. The village and the parish of "Les Pobles" more to the eastern part where the mountain range starts have more inhabitants, especially the first village which is also the most central one and is in fact the head of the municipality. Within the Gaià valley one can find the tenant farmers of "Masbarrat", "les Destres" and "Cal Canonjo, the village and the old parish of "the Order" (with the old Gaians and Ramonet areas), adjacent to "Pont d'Armentera (municipality only separated from Aiguamurcia by the Gaià river and in the year 1981 it was annexed to the Planeta suburb - in previous times belonging to Aiguamúrcia - and the parish and old municipality of Albà. Within the Foix valley one finds the village of Celma - recently abandoned - with the old stables of "Portella" and "Manlleu de Celma" where one also finds the neighbourhood of "Les Gatelletes" and the new village of "Pla de Manlleu" that has taken Celma's place as Head of the Parish.
The Parish church of Aiguamúrcia in former times governed by the monks of Santes Creus is the Santa Llucía church just at the entrance of the monastery. Since 1836 the parish church has been the main church of Santes Creus. Outside Gaià one finds the Sant Pere de Gaià hermitage.
